The Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23 names nine qualities the Spirit produces in a life — not things you work up, but things that grow. Each one below is paired with a different verse where that same quality is shown or taught, rather than just the Galatians list repeated nine times.
Love
"Charity suffereth long, and is kind" — the classic description of what love actually does.
Joy
"The joy of the LORD is your strength" — joy as a source of strength, not just a feeling.
Patience
Patience described as something that finishes a work in you, not just something you endure.
Goodness
Goodness and mercy as things that actively follow a person, not just qualities they possess.
Faithfulness
"Great is thy faithfulness" — written in the middle of a book about loss.
Self-control
A city without walls — the image Proverbs uses for a life with no self-control.
