Examining Other Beliefs
Different religions and religious movements make different claims about God, Jesus Christ, Scripture, salvation, and other important questions. The Berea examines those teachings by first asking what the group actually teaches — using its own sources wherever possible — and then comparing those claims carefully with Scripture.
The goal is not to label a group or attack the people who belong to it. The goal is to test the teaching. The conclusion may be firm; the evidence must be fair. This section does not decide whether a group is close to or far from biblical Christianity in advance — each claim is examined on its own evidence, and this site’s What We Believe pages are the positive biblical foundation every examination is measured against.

Jehovah's Witnesses hold distinctive teachings on the identity of Jesus Christ, the nature of God, and the translation of the Bible itself. This collection examines those teachings using Jehovah's Witness sources, then compares them with Scripture.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) holds distinctive teachings on scripture, continuing revelation, the nature of God, and salvation. This collection examines those teachings using the Church's own scriptures and official sources, then compares them with Scripture.

Islam holds distinctive teachings about the Quran, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the person of Jesus. This collection examines those teachings using the Quran and recognized Islamic sources, then compares them with Scripture.

Christian Science teaches a distinctive understanding of God, Jesus Christ, and the reality of matter, sin, sickness, and death. This collection examines those teachings using Christian Science's own sources, then compares them with Scripture.
